Elevating Venture Capital: A bold website redesign
Headway teamed up with Wing Venture Capital to reimagine their website and create a wiki product focused on helping early stage founders.
Challenges
Wing approached our team with the goal to create an updated website for their firm that innovates on what it means to be a venture website. They had just completed a branding initiative and were looking to carry their new brand vision forward to a founder-focused solution.
Create a wildly founder-centric experience
The team at Wing expressed that one of their key differentiators was their focus on founders instead of VCs. They wanted their new website to reflect this belief and to create a founders first experience.
Translate their new brand guide into a compelling web experience
A complete refresh of the website that spoke to the customers and focused more on things mattered to customers rather than features of programs.
Build a content-oriented solution
Showcase content with more clarity on the firm’s focus and create a wiki product with high value resources for early-stage founders.

Initial design directions
When tasked with creating initial directions for the website redesign using newly minted brand guidelines from designer Mackey Saturday, the design team embarked on a journey to seamlessly integrate the essence of Wing’s identity with contemporary digital aesthetics.
Drawing inspiration from the brand's core values and vibrant visual elements, the team crafted three distinct design directions, each poised to evoke a unique emotional response from visitors while maintaining brand consistency.

Incorporating a human touch
The team at Wing had a desire to incorporate more imagery of people into their new website in order to foster a deeper emotional connection with visitors and showcase the people behind their firm. Each page design fuses imagery of team members and founders, bold typography, line art and vibrant brand elements to create a dynamic visual experience.

Content-centric approach to design
With a focus on delivering content for early-stage founders, it was important for Wing to have a solution for sharing content that incorporated clear hierarchy, filtering, and search functionality. One of the goals of the new website was to change how people interact with their firm via the content they were producing on both the blog and the wiki product.

Custom Lottie animations
In addition to subtle interactive animations developed within Webflow, our team also created a custom Lottie animation with Wing’s slogan for the site’s hero image. Multi-color outward circles were crafted to resonate with the brand's ethos and evoke curiosity. The final product embodies the brand's essence, captivating visitors and leaving a lasting impression.

The Founder Docs wiki experience
The team at Wing wanted to be viewed as a go-to source for founders looking for resources at any stage in their startup’s lifecycle.
The goal was to create a wiki product that would provide early stage founders with tools to help them with the key stages of a building a successful business such as validating an idea, building an MVP, and securing initial funding.

Content Management System
Founder Docs uses a Content Management System to organize and deliver content. We extended the CMS with custom tag management. Additionally, the site uses a reverse proxy to host both the marketing site and Founder Docs on the same domain.
An interactive reading experience
Users can subscribe to updates for content. Logged-in readers can add articles to a reading list, annotate with personal highlights and markings, and submit feedback to Wing on the content.

Dark and light mode options
It was important to provide a reading experience that allows users to seamlessly transition between light and dark modes.
The goal was to cater to user preferences with intuitive controls. The site automatically matches the user’s system settings and allows individuals to manually adjust their browsing experience with the toggle in the lower right on the side navigation.
