This year was our first time submitting projects to be judged for the American Advertising Awards through the Fox River Ad Club. We decided to enter two promotional videos and one application that we created in 2017. It was an honor to be judged and awarded by peers within our industry and celebrate with them at the awards event.
I wanted to take a moment here to reflect on each project by sharing what they are and the people that made them all possible.
RISE - Elite Player Development
Judges Choice and Silver Award
RISE allows soccer coaches, clubs, and athletes to access training programs no matter where they are right on their phone. By collaborating with Scott and Verek, we were able to deliver a seamless application that enhances AthleteFIT’s great training programs with a user-centric mobile experience.
Rise - Elite Player Development Case Study
Advertising Industry Self-Promotion Film, Video & Sound
The Rise Case Study video was the first time Headway approached creating a case study into a video format. We believe that every project has a unique story, but there success is always a reflection of our process and approach here at headway. Not only did we want to tell the story, we wanted to show it too. The branded elements of the actual application and case study web page are found within this video to create a cohesive experience.
The goal of videos like this one is to let potential clients and partners see how we work, what the process looks like, and the passion we have for turning ideas into products that work and look incredible. The more they understand who we are and how we do it, the stronger the business relationship can be. Despite having technologies to do incredible things, you will always be working with people. Gaining the trust of others is a huge part of videos like this.
Holiday Coffee Collaboration with Velodrome Coffee Company
Branded Content & Entertainment For Online Film, Video & Sound
When the team was talking about doing a holiday gift for 2017, right away I suggested doing coffee because of my friendship with Brice from Velodrome Coffee Company. His desire to roast incredible coffee and building strong relationships with farmers was a reflection of our approach at Headway as well. It was a great fit.
The design team did an awesome job of creating the packaging, labels, and cards to be included in the gift. We had a few laughs along the way when creating the names of the roasts, but thankfully we settled on ones that were less comical. I will admit that the comical ones were my idea… Once the coffee was shipped to us, we hand packed all of them right here at our office and shipped them out for the holidays.
While this was an incredible video project to work on with the team at Headway, on a personal note, this was my favorite video project of my career. When I was first starting out in video production I’ve always wanted to work on a project like this and I’m glad I had to opportunity to finally do it.
Collaborating with passionate friends like Brice from Velodrome and Alex from Loure Group is an experience I will always be thankful for. Last October, Alex and I spent two days filming up in Marquette, MI to interview Brice and capture his roasting process. In December, Alex was kind enough to travel with Brice to one of the coffee farms in Guatemala to capture the beautiful scenery, people, and process. Capturing the entire experience from farm to cup would have never been possible without those two. Thanks guys!
Technology is the vessel and people are the catalyst.
While technology allows us to do more things in better ways, the difference between good projects and great ones are the people that lead them and execute. These awards are evidence that our entire team is capable of incredible things. I look forward to seeing our team continue to grow and make waves in 2018. Let’s make more headway!
